As the ancient Nautilus Shell, the symbol for renewal, evolution and growth, the Nautilus Project parnters consortium proposes a university-business collaboration in East Mediterranean basin to expand knowledge, and renew education & training curriculum models, for blue growth and sustainability.

With the contribution of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund of the European Union

Concept

Nautilus concept of sustainable development in Water Sports Tourism derives from a basic need:

The current education and training systems do not satisfy the needs of the new, emerging tourism industry that is more global, more demanding and more diverse than ever. Acknowledging the importance of quality education in the hospitality and tourism sector, strategic alliances and cooperation between industry, academia and vocational institutions can redesign curricula to meet the demands of the industry.

Educated and highly skilled tourism professionals can contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the urgent need for the preservation of our blue and green environment for resilience and a prosperous future.

Expected Outcomes

An education and certification framework that will contribute to the international recognition and improvement of the coastal and maritime professional qualifications. It will encourage workforce circulation and job mobility while bridging the gap between the skills of workers and the needs of the labour market.

This university-business collaboration and initiative will respond to the increased global competition in the tourism sector and will cultivate a collaborative environment between academia and industry for the improvement of the training curricula.
